You have given me more than I could have ever asked for. You have made me into a woman. A woman who is unafraid of challenge, of failure, of competition, and most importantly unafraid of heartbreak. I picked up a basketball @ age 5,started to love the game @ 8,started playing AAU @ 9, started my professional career @ 21 & now finishing my playing career @ 32.I began as a child with dreams of being the 1st girl to play in the NBA, turned into wanting to play for the Philadelphia Rage (the ABA), then dreaming of being drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks. I can say that 1 of these dreams came to fruition. After 13 years of constant practice,1000’s of nights of sleeping with my basketball, and even more nights of prayer I was able to hear my name called to be drafted. April 9, 2008 was the 1st time I could say I was a professional athlete but this day happened in my mind many times and many years prior. 11 years later, the round orange ball has taken me to over 20 countries to play the game I love. Not 1 day has gone by that I haven’t thanked God for the ability and opportunity to play this game. Basketball was my 1st love. It was my sanctuary. The place where I could be confident, strong, and fearless. There were no thoughts, no doubts, no fears, and no gimmicks. It was always real. It was always true. And it was always love! That time has come to an end. I thank God I’m able to go out the way that I want to. 8 medals in 11 professional seasons of playing isn’t bad either (2 gold & 4 historic seasons). A EuroCup GOY, Finals MVP, 2 Regular Season MVP’s, EuroLeague 1st Team and many more accolades. I still have a lot in the tank but I’m going to save that for my kids that want ANY of this sauce ????. I’m able to walk away from the game knowing that I gave it my ❤️, my love, and my soul each and every time I stepped on the court! The blood, sweat, tears, and love was mutual baby! I can only pray that I continue to educate, inspire, & prepare my kids to feel the same love & respect for the game! You get what you put in and baby I have put in a lot but only God knows that the game has given me even more! To the game of basketball, I owe you my life. I won’t disappoint!
